Resident evil 5 inspired this. There were two things in that game i wanted; Hunk the character, and Hunters. Neither was present so I just had to draw them. 3 hours for research, thumbnails, and final sketch. 6 hours for rendering. photoshop cs3.
I disagree. I'm very happy Hunters were not in RE5 BECAUSE they are my favorite bioweapon. Lickers are also one of my favorite bioweapons. Lickers were in RE5. Did you see what they did to them?
Those were not Lickers. They were horrible abominations, mockeries of what Lickers once were. For starters, a human's neck does not stem from the back of its head like a 4 legged animal, it stems from the bottom of the head. I also sorely missed the sitting-up posture they took in preview titles. And I don't know if they've ever looked at one in the mirror, but tongues are flat. Those... 'things' they tried passing off as tongues, they weren't tongues. Lickers do not have TENTACLES as tongues. And what was possible the WORST fuck up of all; Skin. What. The. Fuck. Lickers do not have skin! They have bone and organs showing! They do not have skin! Why do you think Sherry called them the inside-out men!? And I know what you're saying, "but Lady, they were Beta Lickers" Beta Lickers my ass! There were already Beta Lickers, they were bigger and green, and they were in RE2, but aside from that they looked exactly the same as their smaller pink counterparts. Get bent Crapcom. Get, the fuck bent if you think your fanbase is stupid enough not to have seen that mistake.
Bottom line, if Hunters would have been in RE5, they would have had have to have changed them up, make some sort of stupid "Beta" version, and made them look and act and all around feel terrible, and I'm glad they spared us from that pain. I'm only just getting over those damned Sweepers. What a stupid concept.. a Hunter that needs a machine to help it find it's prey..

*WARNING! Answer to RANT
i agree slightly with u. but they did explained why they look like that in the game. they just evolve. besides for where the game is heading that licker was the best choice. and i like it. but my fav is still the original.
if u want abominations look at the lickers in Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. those were...bad.
Not at all! They looked more like the originals in Chronicles, I'd much rather those than those in RE5.. and for "where the series is heading"..... I reeeaaallllyyy don't wanna think about that... I guess we're just very different..
Oh well, specify. and in any case, Re5 alone was a snowball effect of shit, and both it and the chronicles games took a massive dump on everything that was once cannon. So, yeah. Bitter I am. Crapcom should go die now.
Re4 holds a special place in my heart, because it was the first Resident Evil I played, and I played it with my bf whom I've been with for 4 years now. That being said, i still did myself justice by going back and playing all the other Resis, including Outbreaks and offshoots, right up to Gaiden, so true RE fan I am.
But Re4 in all seriousness is a big problem to the series... for obvious reasons. But the reasons why I can still accept it as a true RE game are it still scares the fuck out of you, enemies don't drop ammo like clip pinatas, and most importantly, like all the other old school
*SHOOTS THE ENTER KEY* RE titles, there's still a sense that there's something bigger going on in the background while you play, like there's something ominous going on. In old school Re that ominous suspense and paranoia came from Umbrella. In Re5 there was none of that, the story and all its secrets were out in the open, and the type of "horror" it is, if you can even call it that, is more chaotic panic rather than slow moving suspenseful "Something's gonna jump out at me. Something's gonna jump out at me.."
The biggest issue with Re4 is that it marks when the viruses started to disappear.
